So, two weeks on my new healthy eating plan, and I’m so pleased with how it’s going! I’ve lost another pound (0.5kg), which doesn’t feel like a lot, but the most important thing to me is that I’ve managed to keep off what I lost the week before!
It’s the first time I’ve ever stuck to any kind of plan without caving after a few days. And I’ve also done well this week several times while eating out, which has amazed me. On Monday, it was my Dad’s birthday and we went to the Thai restaurant. I shared an entrée with the Silver Fox, and had a lovely chicken curry with rice for main, and I ate it all! But I didn’t have a dessert, and just had a coffee instead. I only had one glass of wine, too. Then, midweek, the SF, the Foxcub, and I all went to lunch at a ribhouse (hmm), and I had a pulled pork burger and chips – eek! But although I really enjoyed what I had, and ate all the meat, I only ate half the bun and left some of the chips.
And finally, it was my birthday yesterday, and the Foxcub cooked me a beautiful steak with rosemary, parmesan and garlic fries. It was fantastic. I had it with salad, with a little dark chocolate to follow, and a couple of glasses of sparkling wine. So it was a real treat, but I didn't feel guilty because I hadn’t eaten that much all day. I've realized that I'm enjoying feeling good about myself, and that's as much of a treat as a chocolate cookie!
It’s proved to me that I can treat yourself (the 80/20 rule) as long as I try to eat healthily at the other times. I’m still enjoying my fruit, yoghurt, and bran breakfast, and I’ve discovered a new love – blueberries! I’ve never been super keen on berries before as the seeds get into my teeth, LOL, but I never realized how wonderful blueberries were! Expensive, though. But a few are lovely mixed in with the cereal.
I’ve also not had a can of diet soda for two weeks – I did have a glass when we were out at the ribhouse, but that was all.
The main thing is that I haven’t gone hungry. If I’ve felt peckish in the evening, I’ve had a bowl of cereal with some more fresh fruit. And during the day I occasionally snack on crackers with 100% peanut butter.
So anyway, another year older, and feeling fine! Hopefully more good news next week 😊
